About Shankles Construction

I grew up in Knoxville, and know the community well. I have been around building and construction since a young age. I worked alongside my grandfather Charlie Guthery on many buildings around Knoxville. He instilled in me a great work ethic. The level of workmanship that he taught me is seldom found in today’s construction.

My college career was spent at Pellissippi State where I earned a degree in civil engineering technology. While in college I waited tables at local restaurants which taught me sales and people skills. The last 2 years of my college career I worked for a contractor who taught me valuable construction skills. During the last semester in college I ventured out on my own to start Shankles Construction. It was the fall of 2006 and I did small home repairs to get started.

It was hard to start a business and get a customer base built. I learned early that when you do good work for people they tell their friends, and your customer base grows. I particularly enjoy the finish part of construction.

At the end of the day I derive great satisfaction from seeing what I have built and knowing that someone will use or see it every day and appreciate it.
